What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a revolutionary system of virtually clear orthodontic aligners, custom made to fit your teeth, that gently straighten and align the teeth without the need for traditional orthodontic wires.
How does it work?
Clear aligners move the teeth through a series of controlled movements, in a pre-set sequence, over the course of your treatment. The aligners are worn for 22 hours a day. We will monitor your progress throughout your treatment.
Each aligner is usually worn for one to two weeks, gradually moving towards the projected final planned position. The length of the treatment depends on the total number of aligners and will be discussed specifically with you when we plan your new smile.
Once your treatment is complete retainers will be made for you to maintain your new smile. These are essential following any type of orthodontic treatment and lifelong retention is necessary.
Your dentist may feel that you are not currently suitable for Invisalign due to dental disease, such as dental decay or gum disease. It is important to have healthy teeth and gums prior to moving teeth. There are also instances where a conventional orthodontic approach may be more suitable for you than Invisalign.
